The Centre for Applied Crop Science is a national centre for Agricultural Innovation and a key part of the Government Agri-Tech Strategy. A newly created position, the Industry Business Manager will co-ordinate networking and information flow across the whole sector, and act as the voice and champion of industry within the Centre.

We are looking for a confident and talented individual who shares the vision for The Centre and is motivated to make a real difference. The successful candidate will need to be passionate about the agricultural industry, coupled with a good knowledge of science, and be ready to take on an exciting and varied challenge. Initially the role will have a strong ambassadorial element spreading The Centre’s mission and aims quickly. The Industry Business Manager will play a key part in helping the farming industry to be more resilient, competitive and profitable measured against the best practice in Europe and the United States. This will involve facilitating the adoption of new scientific approaches and technologies from the farm level through the food and farming supply chain.

Excellent communication and influencing skills will be needed, gravitas and adaptability. The appointed individual is likely to have an agricultural or science degree, experience in crop production or crop science, the ability to build networks, and previous proven R&D or Agribusiness commercial experience.

The role is home based but will require a considerable amount of UK wide travel. The remuneration package will reflect the importance of this significant role.
